With onTop email as a service, you get the email, contact, calendar, and task sharing of Microsoft Exchange Server, with true mobile synching for anytime, anywhere, any device accessibility. Without the high costs of maintaining servers, software licensing and upgrades, and enterprise level backup software.

Why Email as a Service with onTop

  • Support your mobile workforce
Mobile workers are expected to account for nearly 75% of the total U.S. workforce by 2020. Already, 40% of large enterprise employees use their personally owned device for work purposes each day. Your business productivity depends on their ability to access their email, calendars, and contacts anywhere, anytime, from any device.
  • Reduce costs
Microsoft Exchange Server is the gold standard for email, calendar, and contacts. But hosted on-premises, it’s not cheap: nearly 70% of the cost of on-premises Exchange is in maintenance. Gartner estimates that 80% of businesses with fewer than 300 staff could save money by outsourcing email (i.e., moving from on-premises to email-as-a-service). In addition, with email as a service you move to a per-mailbox pricing model, so you only pay for what you use.
  • Improve reliability
The typical email system experiences roughly 43 minutes of unplanned downtown during a typical month – 8.5 hours per year, at a cost of $52,500 in lost productivity each year. With onTop email as a service, there’s no need to worry about implementing backup software that will keep your business up and running – in onTop’s Tier III data centers on both coasts, we take care of keeping your email services available.

Email as a Service – Q&A with the onTop Team

A: onTop’s Hosted Exchange can be accessed from virtually anywhere that has an internet connection as long as HTTPS/port443 to our mail servers is not blocked by any firewall or proxy.
A: The highly available, redundant nature of our environment is a major benefit. For most customers, setting up a highly available environment is cost prohibitive as it requires multiple exchange servers, redundant switches and routers, multiple internet connections. Building out such an environment also requires skilled Microsoft Exchange administrators to manage the environment on a day-to-day basis.
A: Yes. Our Hosted Exchange supports a variety of protocols. Any platform that supports Microsoft Outlook 2003 or higher will have the best results but we also support SMTP, POP3 and IMAP over SSL/TLS for clients that cannot directly communicate with Exchange. We also support Outlook Web Access for those that are unable to load a full email client. This is ideal when using a public computer to check email.
A: Our environment is built to scale with loads and we take into account periods of high email volume in our design. Typically emails take a few seconds or less to process through our system. We’re also continuously monitoring our servers to ensure a healthy ecosystem and timely email delivery.
A: Yes, we offer ActiveSync to push email data to your iPhone, Android and other smartphone devices.
A: Yes, we have utilities to migrate existing mailboxes into our system so that all messages are available as they were with your previous servers/hosts.
A: Of course. You’ll have your own portal that allows you to easily manage your email environment.

While there are numerous hosting providers to choose from, we found that only onTop Technology Corp had “above and beyond” personalized service backed by the integrity of a Tier III certified data center. By partnering with onTop, we were able to greatly enhance our IT infrastructure.

Here at BidTracer we have developed a cloud based software for construction. Many of the challenges these days of having the expertise on staff at our company has been answered by onTop’s knowledgeable staff. They have set up our phone system integrated with Microsoft Lync and made it a seamless switch over. They are there throughout the whole process and you can tell they take pride in their work.

We grow by acquiring new stations. Each time, I have to integrate the station into the corporate network, which takes three to four days. onTop is working on a ‘station-in-a-box’ idea that will enable a new station to literally plug right in. onTop is helping us figure out how to better scale.
SPARROW relies on onTop for help managing infrastructure costs. That’s strategic. If you can’t manage your infrastructure cost it affects overall profitability.

Whereas the old IT vendor delivered an ‘out-of-the-box’ solution – that is, more capacity – onTop helped us figure out how to put our IT capacity to best use. They helped us align our IT infrastructure to our business objectives. That has been a critical element in our successful growth.

If we can’t be scalable and highly available then we lose customers. Our strategy is of course to keep them. onTop helps us do that.
Matanda Doss, SPARROW
Before onTop, we were with a provider that didn’t really care about how we used – or even if we used – the capacity they had sold us. To increase our compute capacity we had to buy CPU, RAM, etc. in ‘buckets’ whether we needed it or not. In order to get what we needed of one thing, we ended up overbuying in other areas. That’s good for the seller, not so much for us.

Your infrastructure is the foundation for your operations success. By leveraging a scalable solution you can focus almost exclusively on the operation of your company and the growth model you have. The hardware limitations in a self-hosted environment are removed with a partner such as onTop.

Business growth today is driven as much if not more by growing profit margins than by growing revenue. IT plays an instrumental role in that growth.
