Desktop as a Service – Q&A with the onTop Team

A: Currently we only offer Windows Desktops.
A: Streaming is possible depending on bandwidth but typically not recommended. Typically streaming audio/video interferes with the desktop experience.
A: Yes they are, but depending on location, latency may be much greater than it is in the United States. Latency is the major factor in a usable experience so tests may need to be conducted beforehand if this is a requirement.
A: You will be able to connect to the desktop using a client either installed on your system or through a web page. There are also Terminals that allow you to connect to your desktop without the added cost of an actual PC.
A: Images can be deployed in numerous ways. One would be to create a standard image and mass create desktops based off of it. This will allow rollout to be easier and updates more efficient. Other desktops can be created in a persistent manner where each user has their own and changes they make are permanent.
A: We utilize folder redirection and roaming profiles to make sure your settings are as you set them each time you log in.
A: There are many options for this as we can host a file server for you or integrate within your own environment. You also have the option to copy data locally if need be.
